Natalia Poliakova
Fractional Operator & Founder
Unscript IKIGAI™
With over a decade of hands-on experience in artificial intelligence and 24 years in the technology sector, Natalia Poliakova has driven enterprise technology adoption across Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas during her time at Intel. Based in Singapore, she now works as a fractional operator and advisor, supporting a portfolio of technology start-ups with market entry strategy and coaching corporate professionals through career transitions in the AI era. She is also the founder of Unscript IKIGAI™, a life orientation platform centred on human resilience and damage tolerance in an increasingly automated world. As an AI practitioner, Natalia has a contrarian view of the current revolution. While the industry focuses on what AI can do, she considers the impact of AI on the people using it. She argues that, for the vast majority of users, AI is currently driving cognitive offloading rather than augmentation, acting as an amplifier of performative productivity while replacing critical thinking. Her work challenges leaders to look beyond the hype surrounding automation and ask whether their organisations are developing metacognitive capability or merely outsourcing their intelligence. Outside of work, Natalia is an endurance cyclist who has ridden over 2,300 km across Southeast Asia, raising SG$18,000 for underprivileged children in Cambodia. There is no better way to appreciate the cocoa industry and its supply chain than to fight the crosswinds on a climb and hope for a piece of chocolate at the top. She joins this panel not as a cocoa specialist, but as someone who has spent over a decade observing the collision of technological promises and operational reality - and is willing to speak out about it.

In 2012, he moved into the world of consumer goods setting up Energy and Packaging Hedging at Unilever before assuming the roles of Head of Procurement for Unilever’s Ice Cream business direct material spend and Global Head of Unilever’s Risk Management - thus began his love affair with cocoa with visits to West Africa and factories in the US, Europe and Asia. Most recently, Michael has spent 2 years as Mondelēz International’s Global Head of Commodity Price Risk Management reporting into the group CFO where he is responsible for the financial delivery of all direct materials. Within that, cocoa and its respective price volatility is significant in terms of spend and with the attention it requires. Outside of work, his wife and two young children are the chocolate industry’s biggest fans and, when not snacking and watching a movie, Michael and his family can be found outside on a ski slope, swimming in a lake or enjoying any kind of sport or musical activity in Switzerland where they now call home.

Cocoa Under Shade: Agroforestry as a Lever for Sustainability, Quality and Resilience for Cocoa Farmers
3rd September, 9.00am
This Masterclass opens with a global perspective on the cocoa sector: an industry worth over USD 130 billion, in which Côte d'Ivoire alone accounts for approximately 40% of world production. This paradoxical leadership comes with significant vulnerabilities: accelerating deforestation, soil depletion, exposure to climate change, and dependence on volatile commodity prices.
In response to these pressures, agroforestry — long sidelined in favour of intensive monocultures — is returning to the centre of scientific and industrial debate as a systemic response to sustainability challenges.

ALAHASSANE DIAKITÉ
Mr. Alahassane DIAKITÉ, an Ivorian entrepreneur and leading figure in the field of cocoa processing, was born in the 1990s in Côte d’Ivoire, specifically in the city of Divo. Coming from a family of cocoa farmers, he had the opportunity at a very young age to familiarise himself with cocoa cultivation, which would later become a true passion.
Recognising the importance of education, he pursued a rigorous academic path, beginning at EPP Dioulabougou 2 primary school in Divo between 1998 and 2004. In 2004, he enrolled at the Lycée Moderne Adama Sanogo in Dokui, where he obtained his BEPC (Junior Secondary Certificate) and his Baccalauréat. As a committed cocoa enthusiast, he chose to dedicate himself further to the sector after graduating. Alongside this, he earned a BT (Technical Certificate) in Business Management in 2012, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Management from HEC Abidjan in 2022.
To gain hands-on experience, he started from the ground up: first as a pisteur (a field collector sourcing cocoa from farmers), then as a truck convoy operator at the port in the 2010s, and in 2013 as a sales representative at ICOWA. In 2014, he became a cooperative administrator, enabling him to join the Inter-Regional Union of Coffee-Cocoa Cooperatives of Côte d’Ivoire (U.INTER.CC-CI).
In 2014, driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, he co-founded ECAMOI, a company specialised in the export of coffee and cocoa. He gradually rose through the ranks and took the helm of U.INTER.CC-CI. Today, Mr. Alahassane DIAKITÉ serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of U.INTER.CC-CI, Managing Partner of DIAKITE COCOA PRODUCTS SARL, and General Administrator of CACAO S.A., a large-scale cocoa processing company.
As both an administrator and a visionary, he launched DIAKITE COCOA PRODUCTS in 2016, producing an average of 15,000 tonnes of cocoa butter, cocoa mass, and cocoa cake per year, with a European subsidiary: DIAKITE COCOA PRODUCTS LUXEMBOURG. To further realise his vision, he also launched DIAKING CHOCOLAT, aimed at both local and international markets.
His commitment to made-in-Côte d’Ivoire products, youth entrepreneurship, and the long-term sustainability of Ivorian cocoa has led him, together with his twin brother and business partner, to champion the National Forum of Young Cocoa Farmers. This forum now brings together more than 3,450 young people and key figures to raise awareness of the challenges across the cocoa value chain.

How does child labour and forced labour impact your operations?
Learn how to address human rights challenges in your supply chain, in particular in light of regulatory changes around the world
3rd September, 10.00am
Child labour and forced labour are two of the most important human rights issues affecting the cocoa supply chain. Companies must address them as a priority, in particular those sourcing from areas where these risks are known to be high such as West and Central Africa. The evolving regulatory landscape, in the European Union and around the world, makes action even more urgent.
In this masterclass session, learn more about what these issues look like in reality, how to address them in your supply chains, how to work with your suppliers to ensure the correct measures are put in place, and how to operate with due care meeting increased human rights legislative requirements.
ICI supports companies to put in place effective programs to tackle these risks, in addition to working closely with governments, civil society actors, international organisations and cocoa cooperatives to address child labour and forced labour and empower farming communities.
Who should attend?
-
Companies sourcing cocoa from West and Central Africa
-
Companies interested in learning how to recognize, prevent and address child labour and forced labour in cocoa supply chains
-
Anyone interested in learning more about these human rights risks within the cocoa sector and how to tackle them
Key Takeaways
-
Identify the key red flags to look for, and the right questions to ask suppliers, when sourcing cocoa from West and Central Africa
-
Understand the practical steps you need to take to strengthen sustainability and human rights due diligence in your supply chains and the support ICI can offer, in particular in light of emerging EU expectations.
-

From Bulk Supply to Origin-Based Value: The Future of Indonesian Cocoa
3rd September, 9.00am
Swisscontact, in collaboration with Sugata and local government, has implemented the SLPI-LASR Landscape Project in Aceh Tenggara, one of Aceh’s main cocoa-producing areas, through an integrated approach combining farmer capacity building, agroforestry, participatory land-use planning, high-quality planting materials, and multi-stakeholder coordination. These efforts recently culminated in international recognition, with cocoa from Aceh Tenggara through Sugata receiving a Gold Award at the Cacao of Excellence Awards 2026.
Building on the experience and thriving momentum of Aceh Tenggara, this masterclass aims to explore how Indonesia can strengthen its cocoa competitiveness and improve farmer incomes by scaling integrated approaches that combine sustainable production, quality upgrading, and origin-based market development, particularly through artisanal and origin-based chocolate. The set up for this masterclass is a casual panel discussion.

AI in Cocoa: Separating Signal from Noise for Senior Leaders
3rd September, 10.00am
Building on the themes raised in "The Bittersweet Byte," this session moves from diagnosis to action. You'll learn how the sharpest business minds stress test a plan before committing to it, then apply that same rigor to AI, so you can judge whether an opportunity is worth pursuing and get useful, reliable output from AI tools day to day.
Who should attend?
-
Senior Leaders and Aspiring Leaders
-
Decision-makers across the cocoa and chocolate value chain
-
Traders, Processors, Manufacturers and Cooperative leaders
Key Takeaways
-
Understand how top operators pressure test decisions before they commit.
-
How to apply that same discipline to an AI plan or pilot before it launches, not after budget is spent.
-
How to tell a solid AI investment from a feature list dressed up as a solution.
-
What business viability, data readiness, and farmer impact actually look like in practice.
-
How to write clear, effective prompts: giving AI the right context, framing the task, and specifying the output you actually want.
-
How to ask AI for analysis, comparison, or summarization of things like market reports, supplier data, or sustainability disclosures.
Leaders leave with three things:
-
The mental models the best operators use to flip a plan on its head before it proceeds,
-
A framework for deciding where AI is worth real investment, and
-
The practical skill to prompt, question, and validate AI outputs themselves

Cocoa Market Balance Sheet
3rd September, 9.00am
This session walks through how to construct a statistical balance sheet for the cocoa market and use it to derive a fair value estimate for price. We’ll start with trade flow analysis — examining origin exports, destination imports and mirror data. From there, we’ll cover cocoa grind data from the major reporting regions and ICCO, which is a proxy for demand.
With supply and demand components in place, we’ll discuss how that translates to the cocoa balance sheet — production, grindings, stocks, and the resulting surplus/deficit — and discuss how that translates into a fair value range for price. Finally, we’ll layer in the other factors that move cocoa prices day to day but sit outside the balance sheet itself: COT reports, commodity index, etc.
Who should attend?
-
Anyone who is interested in cocoa fundamentals
Key Takeaways
-
Learn how to construct a balance sheet and use it to determine fair value

Chairman's Welcome Message
Dear Delegates, Friends and Partners,
Welcome to the 4th CAA International Cocoa Conference and Gala Dinner 2026.
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Singapore as we bring together more than 800 leaders, experts and stakeholders from across the global cocoa and chocolate industry. At a time of important challenges and opportunities for our industry, this gathering provides a valuable platform to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and find practical ways forward together.
Our theme, “Good Together: Building an Agile Cocoa Future,” reflects our belief that the future of cocoa can only be built through collaboration. As we navigate market changes, sustainability expectations, new regulations and changing consumer needs, it is more important than ever that we work together to build a strong and resilient cocoa sector.
At the Cocoa Association of Asia, we remain committed to our mission of Keeping Farmers Growing & Chocolates Flowing. We believe that lasting progress can only be achieved when everyone in the cocoa value chain, from farmers to consumers, is supported and empowered.
Over the two days, you can look forward to engaging in plenary sessions, panel discussions, masterclasses, and the International Farmers’ Forum. I encourage you to make the most of these opportunities to learn, share your views, and connect with fellow delegates.
Beyond the conference sessions, I invite you to visit our Cocoa Village, where conversations continue, partnerships are formed, and new ideas take shape. We also encourage you to explore our Photo Exhibition, which celebrates the people, landscapes and stories behind cocoa, and reminds us of the communities that make our industry possible.
On behalf of the Cocoa Association of Asia and the Organising Committee, thank you for joining us. Your participation is what makes this conference meaningful.
